Need help with Shinefy? Most questions are answered below. If not, write to hi@roiperfect.com — we usually reply within two business days.
How does deleting work?
Shinefy never deletes anything on its own. You choose what to remove in a group, and iOS asks you to confirm in its own dialog. Only then are the photos or videos moved to Recently Deleted. Contacts and calendar events are removed only after you confirm in Shinefy.
Where are the photos I deleted?
In the Photos app, in Recently Deleted (under Utilities). They stay there for 30 days, and you can restore any of them. The space on your iPhone is freed when they’re removed from Recently Deleted — empty it in Photos to get the space back right away.
I use iCloud Photos. What should I know?
- With iCloud Photos turned on, deleting a photo on your iPhone also deletes it from iCloud and from your other devices. Look through each group before you confirm.
- With Optimize iPhone Storage, some originals are kept only in iCloud. Shinefy may need to download them to analyze, convert or copy them, so the first scan can take longer.
Why aren’t some similar photos grouped?
To avoid suggesting the deletion of photos that are actually different, Shinefy groups only shots taken within about two minutes of each other that look nearly the same. Photos taken at different times, edited copies or shots from a different angle may stay ungrouped. Exact copies are found separately under Duplicates. If you allowed access to only some photos, Shinefy sees only those: to change it, open Settings › Apps › Shinefy › Photos and choose Full Access.
Vault and Face ID
- The Vault opens with Face ID or your iPhone passcode. In the Vault’s settings you can choose when it locks after you leave the app: right away, after 1 minute or after 5 minutes.
- Items in the Vault are encrypted with a key that never leaves this iPhone. The Vault isn’t synced or backed up, and deleting Shinefy deletes it — export anything you want to keep before you delete the app or move to a new iPhone.
- If Face ID doesn’t work, check Settings › Face ID & Passcode, or use your passcode.
How does Wi-Fi Transfer work?
- Connect your iPhone and your computer to the same Wi-Fi network.
- In Shinefy, open Files › Wi-Fi Transfer. Allow local network access if iOS asks.
- On the computer, type the address shown on the iPhone into a browser. You can download files and upload new ones.
Keep the screen open while you transfer: the server stops when you leave it. Files go directly between the two devices and don’t pass through the internet. Use it only on networks you trust.
Contacts backup
Shinefy saves your address book as a .vcf file in its Backups folder, which you can also find in the Files app (On My iPhone › Shinefy). Make a backup before merging or deleting contacts; you can restore from it in Shinefy.
Subscription
- Cancel: open Settings, tap your name (Apple Account), then Subscriptions › Shinefy. Cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends to avoid renewal.
- Restore purchases: in Shinefy, open the settings (the gear on the Clean tab) and tap Restore Purchases, signed in with the Apple Account you used to subscribe.
- Refunds are handled by Apple: reportaproblem.apple.com.
Remove Shinefy
Delete the app from your Home Screen. This removes everything it stored on your iPhone, including your files in Shinefy and the Vault — move anything you want to keep first. Deleting the app doesn’t cancel a subscription; cancel it in Settings as described above. See also the privacy policy.
